Change to Bus Pick-Up Time for EX21 Route Due to Road Closure
We have been made aware of a road closure affecting the EX21 route. As a result, all students travelling on the Greenslades bus service are asked to bring their morning collection time forward by 15 minutes.
For example, if your normal pick-up time is 7:30 am, your revised pick-up time will be 7:15 am.
This change will take effect from Thursday 10 September. The roadworks are currently scheduled to remain in place until 1 December.
Please also be aware that the road closure may result in students arriving home up to 15 minutes later than usual in the afternoon.
If you have any queries, please contact the Devon School Transport Team on 0345 155 1019.
Road Safety
There have been an increasing number of incidents and near-misses involving cars dropping off students at school in the morning and picking up in the afternoon. If you do need to drive your child to or from school, we ask that you ensure that you stop your car at a suitable location, away from both the yellow School entrance markings and the double yellow lines on the road – waiting is prohibited in these areas at all times. The small school Reception car parks are not to be used for drop-offs, unless your child has mobility issues. Whilst we would always prefer for students to walk or cycle to school, we appreciate that this is not always possible or feasible, but we must endeavour to keep our students safe when entering and leaving school, and we ask that drivers park responsibly and do not put our students in danger. Devon County Council are increasing the frequency of their parking patrols in the vicinity of the school entrances at peak times to help keep our students safe. We appreciate your cooperation.
Walking or by Bicycle
We strongly encourage students to walk to college or travel by bike where practical. Secure storage for bicycles is provided on both sites. Bike sheds will be locked after the start of the college day and re-opened shortly before the end of the school day to prevent theft. If your child is cycling, please ask them to always wear a helmet, use their lights in the darker seasons and to lock their bike when left in our secure bike storage areas.
Local Bus Services
For students who travel by public transport bus, please be aware of pick-up times and ensure that a bus is used which will arrive in good time for the start of the college day.
School Coach Service
Students who are living in rural areas and are picked up by our school coaches must be aware of the pick-up times. Safe disembarking parking areas are provided within the college grounds. The College does not take responsibility for your child after they leave the coach when travelling home.
Misbehaviour on school coaches is not tolerated, and we will take action if a report is received from the coach company staff or another student on board.
Travelling by Car
In order that students are not endangered by additional traffic, we must ask you NOT to drive your child to the college gates, as this causes congestion, making it very difficult to manage a safe arrival and departure of our students. We do not want any student to be injured in a road traffic accident.
