Students, staff and families are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results, with some exceptional performances from students across the year group. Amongst these were:

• Emmie F-H, who secured six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and two Grade 7s

• Alifa A, who secured four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and a ‘Distinction Star’

• Danny B, who secured four Grade 9s, one Grade 8 and four Grade 7s

• Lois T, who achieved two Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, and five Grade 7s

Overall there were some very strong subject results with students of Dance again securing 100% of grades at 4 and above this year, and significant improvements in the Humanities (Geography and History) and Technology subjects.

These grades will support students to go onto a wide range of next steps, including at the College’s Sixth Form, which celebrated brilliant results last week. Others have secured apprenticeships or places at Further Education or other training.

These results reflect the hard work of students alongside the dedication of staff and the support of families throughout their school journey. At Exmouth Community College particular emphasis is placed on preparing students for life, so that they are ready to play their part in a global community, with a combined focus on educational experiences in and outside the classroom. 

Alongside preparing for their GCSEs, students at Exmouth Community College have taken part in a range of experiences to help them explore different interests, develop skills and discover more about their future options. This has included careers events where students met employers, colleges and training providers including Devon and Cornwall Police, the Royal Air Force, Exeter College and Bicton College to learn more about different industries and routes after school.

Students have also taken part in experiences beyond the classroom, including visits to the University of Oxford where they explored university life through academic sessions and tours, as well as workshops with professional dancers and university lecturers to develop their skills and learn more about careers in the creative industries.
